Accession No.

"The purpose of this study is to examine a high school speech program in an attempt to determine whether it can be strengthened or replaced to meet the present needs of a student who will function in today's society. It will be shown that the existing program is inadequate, and rather than reinforce the present program, an entirely new course of study will be presented in Chapter III which is in line with today's needs for a speech program.".

Written by Duayne Suzanne Habib (B.S. in Education, Elementary, Lowell State Teachers College, 1961).

Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Speech, 1968)

Accession No.

Object

Silver trophy engraved with "L.H.S.D.S 1916 Maurice John Saletra" across the front. "WALLACE BROS. SILVER CO" is also engraved on the bottom along with an unclear marking that might read "V1707". The Wallace Brothers Silver Company is one name for the company started by Robert Wallace in 1835 in Wallingford, Connecticut. The trophy was won by Maurice John Saletra (see Saletra Family file) for winning a debate at Lawrence High School in 1916. "L.H.S.D.S" likely stands for Lawrence High School Debate and Speech. The trophy is roughly 6" tall and roughly 7" wide when accounting for dents caused by wear over time.
