Lawrence History Center Board of Directors, Staff & Volunteers are grateful for opportunity to honor “Auntie” Joan Kulash with the 2025 Eartha Dengler History Award!
On June 12, 2025, more than 220 guests gathered at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence to celebrate Joan and her extraordinary contributions. The evening was filled with warmth, joy, and deep appreciation — sentiments echoed by many who attended.
A few examples of the feedback we received:
“I want to congratulate you on orchestrating what was honestly the best event I have attended in all my 35 years… so well organized and such a wonderful, friendly vibe along with terrific speakers who totally engaged attendees.”
“Last night was a wonderful celebration of love, hope, community, and the good of humankind… it’s been a long time since I’ve been at an event that vibrated with joy.”
Not only did we honor “Auntie” Joan, but we were able to raise significant dollars to strengthen our ongoing mission to collect, preserve, share, and animate the history and heritage of Lawrence and its people — supporting daily operations and special initiatives including exhibits, building restoration, educational programs, and community outreach.
