This is a St. Christopher medal on a keychain which belonged to Alice O'Connor (1886-1968). O'Connor was an immigration worker in Boston, Massachusetts.
Between 1918 and 1962 she worked as the executive secretary, social worker, executive official, and finally board member for the Massachusetts Department of Education's Division of Immigration and Americanization. She sought to ensure that all immigrants to Massachusetts were treated without prejudice and were given the opportunity to gain an education, earn a living, and become citizens of the United States. Living her entire life in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was a very religious woman for whom family and friends were very important.

The medal is about the size of a quarter and has the words "Saint Christopher protect Us" on one side and "To AO from Bishop Choi" on the other. During the Vietnam War (1956-1975) Bishop John A. Choi Jae-seon was known for giving Saint Christopher medals and Rosaries and giving them out to American G.I.s on R & R in Japan (also to GI's stationed as peacekeeping forces in South Korea). The medals were inscribed with the Veterans Initials.

The medal was found in her nephew's former home on Sunset Rock Road in Andover, MA.

LHC also holds O'Connor's diaries and thesis document which give insight to both her personal and professional lives. These documents are also available online through the internet archive at: https://archive.org/details/lawrencehistorycenter
