In this issue of Merrimack Valley Magazine, Lawrence is highlighted for their education. The Lawrence, tuition free school, Bellesini Academy, holds high standards to their young students with almost all of them continuing on to a private high school. The article written about the school offers student's personal testimonies about their experiences and feelings towards the school as well as the schools mission. Additionally, Northern Essex Community College's Lawrence location has welcomed a local Entrepreneur, Rafael Guzman's scholarship, RM Technologies Inc. Engineering Scholarship. This scholarship has been awarded to Greater Lawrence Technical School alumni, Dimitrius Gonzalez. NECC also signed an agreement with the Dominican Republic's public University, Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo to support transfer agreements between the schools. Another topic covered in this issue was Lawrence's Lazarus House's opening of the new Ishah House - a transitional home for single women to learn skills needed to support themselves. Additionally, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center began a new Residency Program that includes a Spanish language immersion course for residents. This will hopefully help make patient interactions smoother in the city of Lawrence.
