Executive Summary
The Lawrence History Center Strategic Plan (FY2025–FY2027) charts an ambitious and inspiring course for the next three years—anchored in four strategic goals and their bold, actionable objectives. Rooted in our commitment to be a vibrant research and educational institution, this plan will guide us as we deepen our impact, expand our reach, and secure our long-term sustainability.
At its heart, this plan reaffirms our commitment to collaboration, community engagement, and the preservation of Lawrence’s evolving story. We aim to strengthen partnerships with mission-aligned organizations and connect more meaningfully with the people of Lawrence through innovative outreach, inclusive programming, and greater access to our resources.
A central focus remains the continued stewardship of our historic headquarters—the former Essex Company complex. Preserving this landmark, enhancing its accessibility, and re-imagining its use for public engagement are essential steps forward.
To bring this vision to life, we anticipate investing approximately $1 million over the next three years—supporting both operational and capital needs. This plan is both a roadmap and a rallying cry—inviting our board, staff, volunteers, supporters, and community to imagine what’s possible and to shape it together.
