"Sports. From Centennial Issue, 1953. This photo shows a group of young men who had the honor of being the first championship basketball team on the present Armory on Amesbury Street. That was away back in 1893-94 when it was unbeatable in military circles and won the city title as well. The late ex-fire Chief Jim Hamilton, father of Joe Hamilton, a member of the Methuen school committee, was one of the team's players."
