Description typed on accompanying document. "Photos of bed of Merrimack River in vicinity of Central Bridge taken September 9, 1917, showing accumulation of material excavated for pier foundations, which was all left in the river with no attempt at removal. Also shows the general bed of the river. Shows a nearer (closer ?) view of the South end of bridge with material on banks." Mills are visible in the background. Notice the reflection of the bridge in the water. There is a man wearing a hat standing on the bridge.
