Pitcher

A large, two gallon, salt- glazed stoneware pitcher with a formed pouring spout and an attached, curved handle. With cobalt blue slip decoration, the front of the pitcher is decorated in the design of two clusters of stylized grapes hanging from a stem, separated by a large leaf . On either side of the grapes are curling vines.
Impressed into the clay under the decoration are the marks : EDMANDS & CO. 2. The inside of the pitcher is glazed in a dark brown finish.
According to family tradition, this pitcher was used in the Moore and Field dry goods store in Lawrence. Employees used it to draw water from the town well.
