Amulet

This item is a two piece item that includes a silver colored chain with a screw clasp on one end and an amulet , silver colored with blue enamel decoration at the other end.

The amulet is oval in shape and hollow through the middle. It looks as if one could slide a ribbon or narrow belt through the opening.

On the front side it is silver, with a decorative edging. In the center is a raised image of an elk with the letters - B.P.O.E. - on a blue enameled background . On top of the elk's head is a circle in blue and white enamel with a red star in the middle, surrounded by Roman Numerals.

The back of the object reads - HICKOK QUALITY - STERLING - NICKLE SILVER CHAIN.

The amulet is connected to a nickel covered silver chain that has a medium sized loop or hook at the end that can be opened and a pocket watch or other object can be attached.

The object was donated by Mary A. Ahearn of Lawrence, MA.

The object is used by members of the fraternal organization of the Brotherhood of Elks.
