A tapered, blue-green, glass bottle that looks hand blown . It has a rusted metal and white porcelain stopper that reads in red and black lettering : COLD SPRING BREWING CO. LAWRENCE, MASS. In raised lettering on the bottle it reads : REGISTERED THE COLD SPRING BREWING CO. LAWRENCE, MASS. The bottom of the bottle has the letter "L." The city directory of 1900 lists the brewery at 609 South Union Street, near South Broadway. In an advertisement in the same directory it lists Ale, Lager and Porter as the products. During Prohibition the brewery made soft drinks. It is listed for the first time in the city directory of 1895. The donor of the bottle is James P. Dowd of Lawrence, MA.
