Footstool

A wooden footstool with an upholstered, embroidered, crazy quilt top. The footstool is in a bench shape, with wooden legs, decorated with yellow-gold paint trim and small images of flowers on either side. Between the legs is a spool-shaped cross bar, also decorated with gold paint. The fabric top is made of various colors of velvet and embroidered with multi-colored flowers and butterflies. The padded, upholstered top is hinged and opens to a shallow storage place. The hinges were originally placed incorrectly and were replaced, which is evident by the former placement holes. Beatrice Gingras MacCarthy was the donor.
