This item appears to be two pieces of rock.
Included with the rock is the note that reads : PIECE OF RED ROCK FROM LITTLE ROUND TOP, GETTYSBURG, WHERE CHAMBERLAIN STOOD. CIVIL WAR.
The rock was donated by William F. Fontaine of Lawrence.
Mr. Fontaine was one of the founders of the Lawrence Civil War Memorial Guard .
He identified the graves of several African American people buried in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, including the grave of Arthur Schuyler, a Lawrencian, who was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of the Massachusetts 54th, the all-colored company.

Civil War Memorial Guard. This group held re-enactmensts on Lawrence Commom by the monument. They also identified the grave of Arthur Schuyler, an African American of Lawrence, who fought with the all -black regiment, the MASS 54th Co. and who is buried in Bellevue Cemetary in Lawrence.
