Tray, serving
A round, metal tray with a rim. The tray is painted in green, black, red and pale yellow. Around the rim it reads : BEACON - HOLIHAN BROS. - PORTER - LAWRENCE, MASS. On the flat part of the tray it reads : DIAMOND SPRING - GOLDEN & PRIME OLD ALE. In the center of the tray is a shield with a standing lion and two swords and a smaller lion standing on top. Beneath the shield it reads in Latin : EL ATUM A DEO NON DEPRIMAT. The background of the tray is a pale green cloud with images of sunrays coming out of it. The back side of the tray is black and there are no markings. Diamond Spring Brewery was started by Peter and Patrick Holihan in 1856. They were located on 427 - 429 Common Street. and 60 Hampshire Street and sold Holihan Brothers brand and beer and ale. Later they added a grocery business and also sold wholesale liquors and wines. They went out of business in 1972 and In 1973 the building was knocked down.
