Bottle

A round, glass bottle with an attached metal stopper. The bottle is stained or painted red on the outside. The metal stopper reads : HUTTER LIGHTENING - 2. In raised lettering the bottle reads : REGISTERED - PIERCE F. CUMMINGS LAWRENCE, MASS. 412 - 414 - 418 HAMPSHIRE ST. THIS BOTTLE TO BE RETURNED. There are no other markings. Pierce Cummings had his business on Hampshire Street and it was listed under a variety of business categories over the years including liquor store and saloon. The bottle was purchased by Eartha Dengler for the Immigrant City Archives along with three others at a post card show in 1987.
