Miscellaneous Plans and Drawings
Sub-series contains miscellaneous plans and drawings related either directly or peripherally to water power development on behalf of the Essex Company or its employees from 1878-1982. Included are plans and drawings relating to contract work done by engineers of the Essex Company on various water power projects along the east coast, primarily the work of Richard A. Hale and Hiram F. Mills. Examples of projects are the Bellows Falls Canal Co. in Vermont, Hollingsworth & Whitney in Maine, and Stone Mills Inc. in McAdenville, North Carolina. Also included are drawings related to later projects that the Essex Company had an interest in, such as on the Merrimack river around Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire, the Lamoille river in northern Vermont, and work on the Wells and Ashuelot rivers.
