Sub-series includes records of climatological data collected and recorded by the Essex Company. The Essex Company served as a collection center for the agency of federal government responsible for weather observations; at various times the offices were the Department of Agriculture, the Weather Bureau, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The sub-series contains daily weather and river data gathered by the Essex Company and forwarded on government reporting forms to the federal collecting agency. Present are both loose and bound carbon copies of "Record of Climatological Observations" (1893-1976) and "Record of River and Climatological Observations" (1954-1978, 1986).
Some Essex Company produced reports of temperature patterns and watershed data (1880-1954) are included, as are raw temperature data collection forms from 1975-1982.
