Series contains indentures (1846-1978) created between Essex Company and water power customers (mostly mills), and water power rental and payment information (1882-1981). Also included are weekly and quarterly reports on water power use (1895-1978). Indentures (or copies) are housed in four leather-bound volumes, 2 labeled "Sales of Water Power North Canal" and 2 labeled "Sales of Water Power South Canal." In addition, one large leather bound volume labeled "Water Power Indentures Vol. 4" exists. This is a bound volume of large folders containing indentures, correspondence, and other materials related to each customer.
