Title
Survey, Data, and Calculation Books
Sub-series contains bound volumes with hand-written or hand-drawn notes and diagrams of various employees of the Essex Company's Engineering Office. Notes and diagrams primarily relate to survey projects dating through 1955. Many of the books are undated, but it is believed that they date from the earliest work of the Essex Company about 1845. Field books generally have the name of the author / owner inscribed on the top or bottom. Also included are water measurements, preliminary calculations, and general notes of the engineers and their assistants. Some books are dedicated to projects undertaken as a professional consulting engineer outside the employ of the Essex Company, especially by Richard A. Hale.
