Sub-series contains bookkeeping records of the Essex Company, covering the financial status of the company from 1845-1978. Included are Monthly Trial Balances (4 boxes; 1845-1929, 1939-1973), Statements of Receipts and Disbursements (2 boxes; 1895-1978), Monthly Analyses of Receipts and Expenses (2 boxes; 1955-1978), and Cash Divisions books (5 boxes; 1888-1960). Also included are a set of documents variously referred to as Statements of Accounts, Accounts, Financial Summaries, or Directors Papers (3 boxes, 1846-1945). In addition, one box containing miscellaneous bookkeeping records and Daniel Saunders' vouchers, plus one box containing three bound Notes and Receivable books (1857-1940). Two additional Notes and Receivable books are shelved.
