Membership Records - First Spiritual Church, Methuen. This series contains two record books.The first book contains records of 11 marriages performed at the First Spiritualist Church of Methuen, MA dating from 1916 through 1920. The information in each record includes the wedding date, groom's name, occupation, place of birth, father's name, maiden name of mother, current age and address. For the bride the same information is entered. All but one of the marriages were performed by Reverend M.A. Whitehead of 24 Stafford Street, Lawrence, MA. One wedding was performed by Reverend Millicent Wilson of 4 Parker Street, Boston, MA. The second book is a compilation of church members and officers of the various organizations affiliated with the church. The listing includes Society presidents, pastors, Lyceum Conductors, Presidents of the Ladies' Aid Society, officers of the Sunflower Club, officers of the Men's Club, officers of the All-Star Club, Enterprise Dramatic Club, and finally names of 395 church members. Additionally, there is an accounting of Proceeds of Fairs from 1905 through 1939 and a very brief history of the Church building itself, from 1905 to 1950.
The folder contains 19 membership cards, 3 x 5 inches, used by the First Spiritual Church of Methuen. Included are 4 blank "Application for Membership" cards and 15 membership cards with names and addresses.The card records the name and address as well as the committee member(s) who verify the card.The card certifies that the member is willing to pledge a certain amount of money per year to support the Society and to do all in their power for its advancement and progression.
