Thermometer

This is a framed thermometer from Greene's Beauty Salon. In the frame, there is a picture of a fireplace and a prayer written;

"A KITCHEN PRAYER

I want to please Thee Lord, no matter what I do

My kitchen is my place to be, my tasks are seldom few

Let my soapy hands be lifted in prayer to Thee

Still I have to keep them busy to do my dishes you see

Let my tiring knees be bent in homage paid to Thee

Floors I have to scrub, but my soul is forever free

Do you mind Dear Lord if I pray along like this to Thee

It's the first time in hours there's been no one here but me.

I have little time for prayer: me with my pots and pans

Days and my kitchen are busy, I can but offer my heart and hands

For love I stand here a prisoner; yet never was one so free

For I will my work to my love; my love - and to Thee."
