Accession No.

This scrapbook is a collection of photos and military documents from Lawrencian Carmelo Furnari, who was in the U.S. Army during World War II, with images dating from 1945-1946. Furnari was in the U.S. Army Company B 1307th Engineer Construction Battalion. Furnari was a Lawrence resident all his life, living on Union Street. The images are ones Furnari and his friends took while overseas; it can be assumed that these images take place in the Philippines, Manila, New Guinea, and other general areas in the South Pacific. These pictures range from pictures of military members in their bunks to natives in the South Pacific posing alongside soldiers. Also included in the scrapbook are pamphlets disbursed by the U.S. Army– including a photo booklet entitled “A Camera Trip Through Camp Claiborne'' and a menu list showing the daily meals of soldiers during the war– which document the life of the average American soldier.
