Title
Camera History of the Greater Lawrence Flood
Title (generic)
Scrapbook
This scrapbook is a collection of images in newspapers capturing the flood of 1936. The Eagle Tribune dedicated much of its publication to updates on the damage from this flood, including behind the scenes images of the Eagle Tribune headquarters during the flood. A majority of the photos came from the Eagle Tribune, but some in the scrapbook are credited to Saunders Studio. Images compared the damage done to Northeastern Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire and beyond to what these areas and cities looked like prior to the flood. Some images are of groups of individuals who may have helped clean up damaged buildings while other photos are of groups of children or families who were left houseless. These images document the damage to the historic mills in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, damage to small businesses, the strength of these communities, and important happenings during the flood.
