This is a framed print of the front page of Harper's Weekly, A Journal of Civilization, a political magazine from New York published on Saturday, January 21, 1860. This is Vol. IV - No. 160. "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the Year 1860, by Harper and Brothers, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court for the Southern District of New York."
The image on the front page depicts "Ruins of the Pemberton Mills, at Lawrence, Massachusetts, the morning after the fall,--[From a photograph by Whipple, of Boston.]".
This print is contained within a plastic black matte frame [16 x 21"]. The print itself has dimensions of 10 x 15". This print was framed by Andover Gallery.
In the image, numerous firefighters, from the ground and atop a neighboring building, attempt to put out a fire at the Pemberton Mill. Central to the image are the collapsed and broken structures that lay below two remaining pillars of the mill. Townspeople attempt to rescue the injured, while additional onlookers linger in the background.
