A husband and wife, Mr. Gaetano Bongiorno and Mrs. Angelina Bongiorno and their five children are dressed in formal attire. The man is seated on a chair. He is wearing a dark suit with a flower in his lapel. His wife is standing next to him with her arm placed on the back of the chair. Standing next to her on her right side is a young boy about thirteen years of age and a younger boy is seated next to him. The older boy is dressed in a suit with a flower in his lapel. The younger boy is seated on a metal chair. He is dressed in a black or dark old-fashioned formal suit, possibly made of velvet fabric. He is wearing a bolero style jacket and his pants are two pieces, consisting of knickers from the waist to the knees and plain pants extending down to his shoes. His blouse collar is large and white. There is a baby seated on the center chair next to the man. The baby appears to be about a year old and is dressed in a white dress and tights and black shoes. Standing next to the man is a young lady, probably around 15 to 18 years of age. She is dressed in a white dress with a high neckline, short sleeves and tights. She is wearing long white gloves, and a tiara with white netting on her head. Her shoes are black patent leather. A little girl, around six years old, is seated next to the older girl, on her right side. She is wearing a loose fitting dress with ruffles on short sleeves and ruffles at the bottom. She is wearing the same style tiara with netting as the older girl. Her shoes are white. The photograph appears to have been taken in a professional photographer's studio with a balustrade on the right. Mr. Gaetano Bongiorno and his wife, Angelina, owned and operated a grocery store on 144 Common Street in the City of Lawrence, near the Campagnone Common and City Hall. Their grocery business is listed in the City Directory of the year1945 at that address.
