This scrapbook is a collection of newspaper clippings dating between 1946-1968 pertaining to various issues of the day in Lawrence, Massachusetts, compiled by the Essex Company. Several articles involve reporting of new businesses moving into old Lawrence manufacturing sites, for example the sale of the Pacific Mills in 1951. Other topics covered by these clippings include the need for guard rails along the North Canal and the determination as to whom would be responsible for the cost, the proposal put forth by a group of local business people to utilize part of the Common as a parking lot (1954), the Mayor Buckley led drive to cover the North Canal thereby creating an access highway linking Interstate 495 with downtown Lawrence (1964), a Val’s Lunch advertisement from 1955, the South Lawrence land take-over proposed by the building of Interstate 495 (1961), issues involving zoning, school districts, tax rates and other topics of local political interest. Located in Box B 76 in the 1st floor Essex Company Vault.

This scrapbook is a 12" x 12-1/2" x 1" brown vinyl covered book with "Scrap Book" embossed across in gold across the top left corner. The book is tied together with a thin brown twisted rope. The back cover is not attached to the spine.
