Apart of a series of photos from the Asia in Lawrence Exhibit from 1996, curated by Janet H. Howell, and photographed by Loel A. Poor, this image shows Darana Sab. The Sok/ Sab family immigrated from Cambodia to Lawrence in 1986, ten years before photos foo this exhibit were taken. In the image, Darana stands on a chair, while the statement underneath her reads, "I come by myself with my kids. My husband, he don't want to come back, I come here in 1986, but my husband he just come here behind me. The first time I live on 4 Prospect Court. You know up the hill on Lawrence General. I stayed here until 1989. I think 1990 I moving to South Lawrence. We just, move around Lawrence, but we never moved out. Yah, 1987 I have another girl." Darana comes from a family of seven kids, her siblings, Ravan Sab, Darany Sab, Ravuth Sab, Johnny Sok, Scott Sok, and Janath Sok, along with her mother, Ravy Sok, and her father, Chhat Sab, and grandmother Ang Bou, are all featured in other photos from the exhibit.
