Title
An American Gal's Cookbook
This American-themed cookbook features regional foods from across America, honoring the unique cultures and traditions of the Americans living in each city, town, region, or state. Bobbi Jo Lathan does a deep dive into the foods of the Southern States—separating this region into three sections—while also giving attention to the ethnic diversity in Northern States like New York. Lathan’s reach extends from Vermont to Alaska and Hawaii, sharing the most notable recipes from locals.
On page 94, "New York by way of Italy" features the story and photos of Carmela Teoli (who was scalped in 1909 while working in the mills and went on to testify before Congress in 1912 on the unsafe working conditions in Lawrence) and the Strike of 1912. Amita Kiley is thanked in the story for providing research assistance. The book is also inscribed by the author, "To Amita - The guardian of all things historical! Thank you for your help! Love, love, love, Bobbi Jo Lathan"
