Feast of San Alfio, Cirino, Filadelfo, three martyred Italian brothers, portrayed by Mary Sciuto Privitera, Mary Sapienza Scuderi and Josephine Scuderi Campagnone, rear center of float, surrounded by nine angels, represented by Grace Scuderi Senno, Rita Coppola Alaimo, Rita Fichera Fragala, Nellie Fichera Fragala and Barbara Scuderi Incropera and other unidentified girls. In the foreground are four torturers, portrayed by Fred Zappala, Carmelo Maccarone, Angelo Moschetto and Dom Sciuto. The purpose of the feast is to revere the three brothers who were tortured and killed by Romans for refusing to renounce their Christian faith. The brothers were martyred in ancient times in Trecastagne, Sicily and the townspeople hold a big feast every May in their honor. In Lawrence, the Sicilian-American community honors the three saints in late August. Photograph dated circa 1940.
