This book is a reporting of the filtration of sewage and water at the Experiment Station in Lawrence, Massachusetts for the years 1888-1889. As stated in the introduction to the report: “The results of preliminary experiments upon the filtration of water and a general description of the Experiment Station at Lawrence, together with a summary of results previously obtained in Europe upon filtration of sewage, are given in the nineteenth annual report of the Board. To render intelligible the operations at the Experiment Station during the past two years, the description of the Station and of materials used for filtering are again given, with a plan and sections of the premises.”
