This book is a collection of anti-slavery opinions of the eighteenth century and was read before the Cincinnati Literary Club on November 16, 1872. A reprint of Dr. Geoerge Buchanan's "Oration on the Moral and Political Evil of Slavery", which was read at a public meeting of the Maryland Society for Promoting the Abolition of Slavery in Baltimore on July 4, 1791, is included in this book.

Inside the front cover is written, "Lawrence Public Library, Lawrence, Mass, From W Poole, Cincinnati, March 10, 1873"
