Published in 1949, Hannah Josephson's book describes the life of young women in Lowell, Massachusetts from 1822 to 1850. Josephson specifically focuses on the lives of young women who worked in the textile mills. Hannah Josephson was the wife of Matthew Josephson, and she dedicated the book to him. Hannah Josephson was also the translator of Louis Aragon's "The Century Was Young" and Rimbaud's "A Season in Hell." Additionally, Josephson edited "Aragon: Poet of the French Resistance" with Malcolm Cowley. There are areas of the book covering Abbott Lawrence, the Lawrence Family, and Lawrence, MA.
