A class portrait of the teachers with their students who are dressed up for Purim, 1964. The students in the photograph are in first or second grade.
Purim is a holiday commemorating Queen Esther and the Jewish people from being killed by the evil Haman. In the story, Queen Esther hides from the king that she is Jewish, which is often why people now wear costumes during Purim. Another reason people wear costumes is to represent the hidden miracles in the story.
This photograph was part of the Jewish Exhibit.
