A soft cover 'Catechism' containing lessons for children preparing to receive their 'First Communion. The book is broken up into the following lessons: Prayers, The Purpose of Man's Existence, God and His Perfections, The Unity and Trinity of God, The Incarnation The Redemption: The Church, Sin: Original Sin, Actual Sin, The Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Penance, How to Make a Good Confession, The Holy Eucharist.
The book has a brown paper cover that is labeled: St. Mary's Parochial School, Lawrence, MA, with a label containing the name 'J. Gagnon' (with his name 'John Gagnon' written in pencil on the book cover.
John Gagnon wrote his name in pencil on the 'Remembrance of First Holy Communion' page, noting that he received his first holy communion on 6/5/1952,
The book is illustrated with drawings based on the 'Official Revised Edition' of the Baltimore Catechism. Most drawings are in black and white, a few are in color.
The introduction was written by Father McGuire on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6, 1946
