This is a scrapbook created by one Robert V. O’Sullivan to catalogue newspaper clippings and assignments for what seems to be University courses on a variety of subjects, though primarily focused on History and Government. The first few pages are homework assignments, responses to questions about literature and theater, as well as notes on U.S. government and the entire Massachusetts Constitution, written out by hand by O’Sullivan, presumably for his Government or History class. The rest of the book is filled with newspaper clippings from 1924, with notes about the clippings in the margins. Each page has a heading written out by O’Sullivan, “State Legislature”, “Department of Commerce” and “Executive Branch” are some examples. Under these headings are clippings that pertain to the heading, perhaps collected as part of a class assignment or to bolster O’Sullivan’s notes on the subject. Particularly interesting clippings include one from the Sunday Sun about the death of Woodrow Wilson, a few about the Coolidge v. Davis presidential election, and one large editorial clipping about reflecting on the past, under which O’Sullivan wrote his final course reflection.
