This is a scrapbook filled with photos of an army base in France during WWI, focusing particularly on a set of U.S. Army barracks in Verdun. The book has a note taped to the inside of the front cover stating that the book and its contents were promised to one Arlene Bolitsky. The rest of the book has footnotes under several photos pointing out one woman in particular, a battlefield nurse by the name of Marion Mitchell Doyle. Packaged with this book is a large, full scale photo of Marion, along with some basic information about her. Marion graduated from the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in 1916 and immediately went to serve as a Red Cross Nurse during WWI until 1918. She is seen in several photos throughout this scrapbook, posing in front of the barracks, on parade in Verdun with her fellow Red Cross nurses or even in front of a makeshift Christmas tree that the nurses set up in the injury ward. The rest of the book is a miscellaneous collection of photos, some highlighted examples include photos of French Civilians, photos of other French military bases, individual portraits of soldiers and a funeral procession for a nurse who died overseas, a woman by the name of Jane A. Delano.
