Title
“Daily Reminder 1914” Journal
Title (generic)
Scrapbook
Accession No.

This journal once belonged to a young girl by the name of Edith Marsden who lived on 74 Berkeley Street in Lawrence. In this journal, Edith catalogues the entire year of 1914 from her perspective, writing about her daily duties and her dealings with family members and friends. She writes on the very first page of the journal that she was given the book for Christmas and resolved to write in it every day for the whole year, which we can now see she eventually accomplished. This small red book is filled with the same kind of day-to-day information a young girl might use a journal for today, things like the weather, family events, class assignments and the like. On one particularly interesting page (January 13th) Edith wrote about how the daily newspapers had called that day “The coldest in 40 years”.
