A black and white drawing of men, women and children walking home from work in the mills in response to the 'bell'. The artist is Winslow Homer. The painting's title is 'Bell Time'. People in the painting are dressed in street clothes, and carrying their lunch pails. The mill on the opposite side of the river seems to be a composite shape, rather than a specific mill building - the mill was not named by the artist. There are train boxcars in front of the mill building along the bank of the river.
