This book is a "historical narrative" of two kinds of peoples, the workers and the owners of the mills where the people work. The story is about Lawrence, but it could be about any industrial city. Lawrence is one of the oldest industrial "towns" in America - the first textile mill was built at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.
