There are cannisters suspended from the ceiling and connected to pipes beside the machines. These cannisters could be a ventilation/exhaust system to remove fumes from the textiles being processed.

There are patches of bright blur throughout the photograph; many appear to be the glare of sunlight coming in the windows. There is fray around the edges of the photo as if it was once mounted on a fabric background.
