Summary: The narrator is the son of Angelo Rocco. He tells what his father told the family about the STRIKE OF 1912. He then tells of the family life of the Rocco family, and how his father was ruined financially during the Depression. His father had a business, Rocco Lumber Co., in Methuen, and built houses in the Druid Hill neighborhood. The narrator's mother had a business, the Remnant Store, first on Essex St. and later on Cardillo Way. An important part of the interview is Angelo Rocco's philosophy and his respect for education. The family lived in Lawrence because of the school system.
