This book is about the American Industrial Revolution and the architecture of the mills, factories and villages. It also informs people of the neglect of some of these mills and their deterioration. The stories in this book tell of the earliest mills and how they were used for grinding grain andk the first cotton mill built by Samuel Slater. There are suggestions for rehabilitating these structures. Lawrence is mentioned throughout the book.
