This scrapbook is the 1st in a series of 34 (?) compiled by Alice Marcoux which contains newspaper articles and pictures of happenings in the Lawrence & Greater Lawrence area. The earliest articles begin around 1954 and pertain to the Syrian Society of Lawrence marking their Golden Anniversary; the purchase of a historical landmark to be site of St. Monica's School in Methuen; the razing of the Colonial Theater building where vaudeville acts took place; article pertaining to the Immaculate Conception Church celebrating it's Centennial in December, 1955, the oldest Catholic Church in Greater Lawrence; dedication by Archbishop Cushing of Merrimack College Chapel; an article telling of a 2 day feast by the Saints Alfio, Filadelfo & Cirino Society of Holy Rosary Parish. A picture of the French American Club's musicians marking their Golden Anniversary and also a picture of Tripoli Bakery and the owners to celebrate their new renovations. A group picture of Central Catholic H.S. graduates who received the Marist Order Habit.
