This book is about Ferdinand Waldo Demara, Jr. who was a Lawrence resident at some point in his life. He assumed many identies and careers among them are a surgeon in the Royal Canadian Navy, head of the psychology department at a college, assistant warden of a Texas penitentiary, a Brother novitiate in a Trappist monastery and many others. He assumed a different name for each position.
