Book

A record of the achievements of Battery C. 102d Field Artillery, from Lawrence Massachusetts, during WWI. This group came into existence at the close of the Civil War. The 'Yankee Division' was under the leadership of Major General Clarence R. Edwards, and cited multiple times by the high officials of the French Army. During the Second Battle of the Mane, the civil population of the devastated regions surrounding Paris conferred the title 'Saviours of Paris' on the 'Yankee Division'. All of the information in the book, except for credits, is compiled from diaries kept by the authors.
The introduction contains a thank you from the authors to the citizens of Lawrence, particularly Armorer John P. Ryan and the Elementary Teachers Association of Lawrence and the friends of Battery C for the many kind expressions of friendship tended during the dark days of 1918 while the battery was in action. The authors expressed that they were especially grateful to Lieut John J. Hogan of the teaching staff of Lawrence High School for assistance rendered in the revision of the manuscript.
Members of Battery C from Lawrence killed during the war were: Corporal August Mathison, Private Phillips, Private Self, Private Jean Chenard, Private Everett Roy Kenney, Private Charbonneau, Private Arthur Dyer, Private George Scanlon.
