This publication tells of the collapse and destruction of the Pemberton Mill in 1860. It was many days before the rescuers could remove the bodies. After the building collapsed a fire began which contributed to the heavy death toll. The owners at the time of the disaster were George Howe and David Nevins. After the disaster Mr. Howe sold his interest to Mr. Nevins. Jared Coffin, who was Mr. Nevins father-in-law then became a new partner in the business.
