This photograph shows the end of Lawrence Street looking north from Canal Street. This old dilapidated building was once a department store and other businesses and has since been destroyed and the John Fenton Court House stands in its place. In the distance is a red brick First Essex bank building and across the street is the Andover Savings Bank. At the corner of Essex and Lawrence Street is the tall Bay State office building which was occupied by many lawyers, real estate & insurance agencies. That building was later redeveloped into housing condos.
