This scrapbook contains newspaper articles from the Boston Globe and Lawrence Eagle-Tribune discussing urban renewal in Lawrence. The Eagle-Tribune articles depict numerous efforts on behalf of the residents of Lawrence to beautify their city. These newspaper clippings show residents planting trees and helping to demolish dilapidated buildings. Some articles contained in this scrapbook - especially an article from a issue of the Boston Globe Magazine which is preserved in its entirety within the scrapbook - compare and contrast Lowell and Lawrence, speculating and offering reasons as to why Lowell is on the upswing and Lawrence is in a state of stagnation and decline.

The newspaper clippings are in plastic sleeves and therefore protected from handling. The scrapbook within which the clippings are placed shows no signs of wear nor any blemishes.
