This photo features Thomas O'Brien's shop/business. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker in Lawrence in the early 1900s. His business is pictured here at 634 Essex St., corner of Winter St. Notice the "Winter St." sign on the building. O'Brien lived at 50 Margin St. An ad in the 1908 City Directory (page. 846) tells us other aspects of the carpentry business O'Brien offers: "house finish, window and door frames, doors, windows and blinds, counters and store fixtures, turning, sawing, and band sawing, ice chests built to order, all kinds of shop work. Alterations and Repairs a Specialty"
