A wonderful picture of the interior of Eli Lacaillade sitting at his desk in his office at 478 Common St. in December, 1903. Some of the items on his desk are a telephone, an open ledger, city directories and a lamp. Their is a large safe on the floor next to the desk. On the other side of the desk there is a long glass case with a coffin inside. Perhaps this was a model he showed people who were looking to purchase one. There are a few calendars hanging on the wall, as well as a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. The picture is mounted on a piece of cardboard.
The LHC has many other picture of the Lacaillade family. We also have Eli Lacaillade's Undertaker's license, granted May 1, 1904, in the closed stacks in the business boxes.
